Need To Get Rid of Phlegm and Mucous in throat?

Getting rid of phlegm and excess mucous in the throat can be a bothersome problem. I know from personal experience, because I have been living with it for several years. Expectorants are one of the remedies for getting rid of phlegm, so I have tried Mucinex and Robitussin and noticed some improvement. If you want to get rid of phlegm, don't take a cough suppressant or use throat lozenges. Cough medicines that are not explicitly labeled as expectorants will will only increase your phlegm production. You may also want to try an allergy medication such as Benadryl, Zyrtec or Claritin. This will alleviate the drainage that you are experiencing which results in the excess phlegm and mucous.

Phlegm differs from other mucous in that it comes from the lungs instead of from the nasal passages. Post nasal drip, a common symptom of colds, flus, sinusitis, and inhaling other irritants can result in excess phlegm. If you are producing yellow, green, or brown phlegm, your body is fighting an infection. If the color of your phlegm is brown or gray, your body may be getting rid of tars or resins built up from smoking or inhaling large amounts of dust. Generally clear phlegm is indicative of postnasal drip, which creates the excess mucous.

It goes without saying, if you are a smoker, quit smoking. You will never get rid of the excess mucous in your throat if you continue smoking.

Phlegm functions as a sticky film, filled with infection fighting substances like glycoproteins and immunoglobulins, which attaches itself to the lining of your bronchial tubes and lungs. When the phlegm is coughed up, it means that the substance has served its purpose and needs to be expelled. If possible, expel that phlegm into a tissue instead of swallowing it. Swallowing it can reintroduce the phlegm back into your pulmonary system.

The overgrowth of yeast has also been known to cause excess phlegm and many other health problems. You may be suffering from other symptoms that are related to yeast and just not realize it. Things like fatigue, painful joints, recurrent vaginal yeast infections, eye pain, chronic sinusitis, headaches, and more. This overgrowth of yeast is known as candida and most people don't even realize they have it.

I will keep you updated on my struggles with this issue and let you know if I have any other suggestions. If possible, try to drink at least 8 eight ounce glasses of water per day, as this thins the mucous production and you will notice a difference. I have also tried this natural remedy and it has helped considerably. At their website do a search for Comficoff to read the details. They also have many other natural products that I have tried with success.
